Along with this requirement to separate food waste for collection, there will also be a ban on the non-domestic use of food waste disposal units (macerators) and food waste digesters where food is discharged into public sewers directly or indirectly. There will also be a ban on biodegradable municipal waste going to landfill from 1 January 2021.
