Deputy First Minister Visits Fife Interchange North as First Tenants Move In

InvestFife news

October 8, 2025

Deputy First Minister Kate Forbes has marked a major milestone for Dunfermline’s newest business park with a visit to the recently completed units at Fife Interchange North, as Fife Council welcomes its first new tenants.

Completion of the Fife Interchange North units represents a significant investment in the local economy. Delivered through the Fife Industrial Innovation Investment Programme (I3) as part of the Edinburgh and South East Scotland City Region Deal, the development has been designed to meet the needs of modern businesses and to encourage growth across a range of sectors. The units offer high quality, energy efficient space with features such as solar power, electric vehicle charging and flexible layouts. Six of the nine units are already let, with interest continuing in the remaining space.

The I3 Programme is a ten year, £58 million investment led by Fife Council and supported by £35 million from the Scottish Government. It is creating new business space and serviced land across Fife, including projects in Glenrothes, Kirkcaldy, Levenmouth, Dalgety Bay and Dunfermline. Over the coming years the programme will support around 770 permanent jobs and 600 construction jobs, while attracting further private sector investment and ensuring businesses have the facilities they need to grow.

Cllr Altany Craik, Fife Council's Spokesperson for Finance, Economy & Strategic Planning, said:

“We are committed to ensuring that Fife Council delivers modern business infrastructure that meets local, regional and national market requirements.

By working together this Edinburgh, Lothians, Borders and Fife City Region Deal project, funded by Fife Council, UK and Scottish Government has delivered essential facilities to attract investment and support companies to prosper, creating new and better jobs for local people.”

The Deputy First Minister toured the development, met with some of the first tenants, and was given a live demonstration of iLivestock’s innovative technology in action. The visit highlighted how this modern facility is already supporting business growth, creating skilled jobs, and opening new opportunities for companies with international ambitions.

Deputy First Minister Kate Forbes said:

“The Scottish Government’s £35 million investment through the Edinburgh and South East Scotland City Region Deal in the Fife i3 programme aims to provide entrepreneurs and businesses with the conditions they need to innovate and thrive.

“Having just held Scotland’s first National Innovation Week, we firmly believe this country has the talent to become one of the world’s most innovative small nations.

“Fife Interchange North delivers modern, energy efficient units for innovative businesses to develop and grow across the region. It’s been great to see a demonstration of some of the pioneering work being carried out by companies based here.”

One of the first tenants is iLivestock, an innovative Scottish business providing software and hardware solutions to help farmers manage their flocks and herds more effectively. The company has chosen an 8,000 square foot unit at Fife Interchange North as its new global headquarters, bringing administration, manufacturing and distribution together for the first time. Already trading in more than ten international markets, iLivestock is now preparing for significant growth, with plans to increase turnover from £1.4 million to £22 million within five years and to create up to 80 new jobs, many of them in Fife.

Ewen Wardman, CEO and Co-Founder of iLivestock, commented:

“Scottish Enterprise, Fife Council and InvestFife have been a huge help to iLivestock. Their support is enabling us to accelerate our growth with access to industrial office space and bring our technology to more farms worldwide. It is fantastic to see Scottish start ups given the opportunity to expand on a global scale.”

iLivestock’s success has been supported by Scottish Enterprise, which has worked closely with the company to open up international opportunities. Since 2023, this support has included introductions to new markets in Turkey, Latin America and Argentina, as well as opportunities to showcase the business at national events. The company has also benefited from £1.3 million of investment from Scottish Enterprise, which has helped secure new partnerships and recognition overseas. In 2025, iLivestock was recognised with major honours, including the Scotland Final of the KPMG UK Tech Innovation competition and two Scotland’s Life Sciences Awards, one of which was the Global Export Impact Award.

iLivestock is joined by a diverse group of tenants that reflect the variety of businesses attracted to the site. These include Decorous, Trailblazing Digital, Home Entertainment Solutions and International Entertainment Collective Ltd. Together they demonstrate the appeal of Fife Interchange North as a modern base for ambitious companies.

Three units remain available at Fife Interchange North.
