Howdens Joinery, a leading supplier of Kitchens, Bedrooms, Doors, Flooring & Joinery to the trade, has recently set foot in the Banbeath Industrial Estate, Leven. Occupying Block 8, Unit 1 after a period of vacancy, the company has now expanded its presence to 6 depots in Fife and 89 across Scotland.
The arrival of Howdens Leven has been warmly received by Economic Development at Fife Council, which has supported the company in its expansion plans into the Levenmouth area. As kitchens increasingly evolve into multi-functional spaces for socialising and entertaining, their significance within homes has grown, especially in recent times, making them the focal point of domestic life.
Currently, there is a scheduled refurbishment underway as Howdens transforms the vacant space into a fully equipped and operational facility, ready to uphold the Howden standard. Once operational, this venture is expected to invigorate the local economy and will generate employment within the community.
The acquisition of this spacious unit, which had remained unoccupied for a considerable period, marks a significant turning point. The new depot, with its ample storage facilities, will provide quick and easy access to products from local stock, allowing their customers to complete projects in a timely and cost-effective manner. The unit at Banbeath represents a valuable asset to Fife Council's Economic Development’s business property portfolio, enhancing its overall appeal.
Blair Congalton, the Project Manager overseeing the Fife depot project as part of Howdens wider estates, remarked, "This project has been incredibly rewarding, bringing Howdens to Leven and consolidating our local presence within reach of valued customers."
Depot Manager, Ian Stevenson said, “It’s an honour to be appointed manager of the new depot in Leven and I'm looking forward to taking on the challenge of growing and establishing the depot in Central and East Fife. This expansion shows Howdens commitment to Fife, and we have an enthusiastic team and fully stocked warehouse ready to serve our customers.”
Andrew Goulder, Lead Officer Business Property, Economic Development at Fife Council, expressed his satisfaction, saying, “We are delighted to see this unit being occupied, marking a positive step forward. It's rewarding to watch Howdens Joinery tailoring their in-house designs to meet the needs of the local trade."
