Fife-based Peeltech has made a significant advancement in its business journey by expanding into newly upgraded 8,000 sq ft premises at the Fife Food & Business Centre in Glenrothes. This move reflects the company’s ongoing success and highlights the positive impact of Fife Council’s investment in business infrastructure.
Peeltech Powers Ahead with Major Expansion
Peeltech, a fast-growing food-tech business, has significantly expanded its operations, moving into a newly refurbished 8,000 sq ft unit with the support of Fife Council’s Economic Development Team (InvestFife). The company has grown from occupying just 2,000 sq ft to now operating across the entire unit, reflecting rising demand and long-term business confidence.
A Homegrown Food-Tech Success Story
Founded in 2013 by Malcolm Wood and family, Peel Tech specialises in innovative vegetable preparation and waste management solutions for the food industry. Its patented waste-filtering machine is widely used by chip shops, restaurants, and food producers across Scotland. Alongside chip production, the company also supplies fresh produce and pre-cut vegetables for soups and ready meals, distributing several hundred tonnes each month.
A commitment to practical innovation, responsive service, and local roots has driven success. The company has grown steadily over the years, evolving from a small operation into a nationally recognised brand in food preparation and supply to the catering trade.

Investing in Growth and Infrastructure
The expansion has been underpinned by joint investment from Peel Tech (Fresh Express Produce /The Real Fresh Chip Co) and Fife Council. The Business Property team, part of Fife Council’s Economic Development team, has carried out a programme of works to enhance the site, ranging from upgraded electrics and certification to food-safe standards, to repairs and improvement including the installation of a new unit in preparing the premises for long-term use.

Peel Tech (Fresh Express Produce and the Real Fresh Chip Co) has rapidly expanded over the past year, growing from four to around twenty employees, strengthening its role as a key employer and contributor to Fife’s food and drink sector.
