Fife Construction Businesses Strengthen Capability Through an Enhanced Build Fife 2026 Programme
Fife construction businesses are better positioned to secure new opportunities and compete within major supply chains following the successful completion of the Build Fife 2026 programme.
Delivered by Fife Council in partnership with Hub East Central Scotland and leading Tier 1 and Tier 2 contractors, the programme supported 13 local companies to strengthen their capabilities, improve tender readiness, and build direct connections with key industry buyers.
Now in its third year, Build Fife continues to evolve in response to industry needs. The 2026 programme introduced enhanced “Build & Connect” sessions, giving participating businesses more direct access to contractors, practical guidance on procurement processes, and opportunities to develop relationships across the construction supply chain.
New and Improved ‘Build & Connect Sessions’
A key enhancement to the 2026 programme was the refreshed Build & Connect Sessions delivered by major contractors throughout the eight week schedule.
Major contractors including, Ogilvie Construction, Kier, FES, Robertson Construction Tayside, Maxi Construction, BAM Construction, and Linear Design & Construct contributed to the programme, delivering interactive sessions focussed on practical application, networking, and procurement guidance.
The programme concluded with a final showcase event where participating businesses demonstrated increased confidence, clearer growth plans, and a stronger understanding of what is required to win work within the supply chain.
Alltec Construction was named overall winner of the Build Fife 2026 programme following the final presentations, with Business and Operations Manager Sarah Driscoll delivering the winning presentation and recognised for her strong engagement and commitment to applying the programme’s learning within the business
Sarah Driscoll, Business and Operations Manager at Alltec Construction, said:
"Taking part in the Build Fife Programme has been a brilliant experience. It’s given me the tools to strengthen my own leadership and sharpen our strategic approach, but more importantly, it’s provided learning that I can take back into Alltec Construction to share with our management team and roll out across the wider business.
The programme has opened up new ways of thinking that will help us improve communication, alignment, and longterm planning across all departments. I’m incredibly grateful to everyone involved in delivering the programme — their insight and support have been invaluable. I’m looking forward to implementing the lessons we’ve learned and seeing where they can take us as a company."
Andy McEwan from Thomas Menzies (Builders) Ltd said:
"A huge thank you from myself and my colleagues for the workshops over the last eight weeks — we’ve already started implementing several aspects into the business. Special thanks to the Build Fife team for looking after us throughout, and to all the presenters and Tier 1 representatives for their insight.
It was great engaging with the other delegates, and I’ve come away with clear actions to help us continue growing and modernising. This also comes at a perfect time as Thomas Menzies has recently achieved Constructionline Gold Certification — a major milestone that reflects our commitment to excellence and best practice.”
Brian Craig, Chief Executive, hub East Central Scotland said:
“We are proud to partner with Fife Council to support the Build Fife programme, which provides a practical and collaborative environment to enable businesses to better understand procurement processes, build relationships and position themselves for future opportunities. We are committed to creating meaningful opportunities for local SMEs to engage with contractors so that they can play a greater role in delivering the infrastructure that serves their communities.”
Pamela Stevenson, Service Manager at Fife Council, commented:
“The Build Fife Programme continues to deliver real benefits for businesses across Fife. This year’s improvements have helped strengthen connections between local companies and major contractors, supporting a more resilient and competitive construction sector.
I would also like to congratulate Alltec Construction on being named this year’s winner, and Sarah Driscoll on delivering a strong final presentation. Their achievement reflects the ambition and commitment shown throughout the programme.
The progress made by this year’s cohort highlights the important role local businesses play in supporting economic growth across the region.”
