Fife Council's Economic Development Team alongside Converged Communication Solutions has successfully delivered its Cyber Security and Cyber Essentials Programme, helping local businesses improve their cyber resilience and gain a competitive edge in today’s digital economy.
Our cyber security workshop, held in Glenrothes, provided businesses with practical tools to protect against cyber-attacks. It also highlighted the benefits of achieving Cyber Essentials Certification, a vital accreditation increasingly required across industries like defence, manufacturing, construction, finance, and healthcare. Certification not only strengthens cyber security but also opens new contract opportunities, particularly for government and public sector buyers.
Attendees included Quality Precision Electronics Ltd, Fife Fabrications, Eurospray, Heart Link, ARRO Lighting and Events, MakeUK Defence, Ductform HVAC, Epipole Ltd, Lloyd’s, and Semefab Ltd.
Participants gained clear, actionable advice on implementing essential cyber protections, including staff training, backups, and patching systems. Businesses also benefited from the Cyber Essentials Gap Analysis, a tailored 1-2-1 session highlighting areas for improvement and preparing them for Cyber Essentials certification.
Feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Tamuka Mtsvanga of Heart Link Health Care Services Ltd said:
“The workshop was eye-opening and gave us a clear pathway to improve our cyber security. Achieving Cyber Essentials is now a priority for our business.”
Cyber Essentials certification provides a baseline level of security, protecting businesses against digital threats like phishing and ransomware while enhancing competitiveness. Fife Council’s Trade Development Programme has a limited number of Cyber Essentials Gap Analysis slots available. Interested businesses can contact [email protected] to check availability.
