Babcock International Group (Babcock), the defence company, recently hit the highway as it toured the UK, including Rosyth, in a specially kitted out bus, where it is connecting with colleagues and highlighting the positive impact it is having on communities the length and breadth of Britain.
This new outreach programme saw senior representatives boarding the bus and talking with colleagues about further career opportunities, health and wellbeing, the company’s commitment to
sustainability, and bringing into focus the rewarding roles available for anyone contemplating a new career with Babcock.
The company continues to transform thousands of lives and businesses and connect talent as part of its growing economic and social blueprint across the UK as the second largest supplier to the
Ministry of Defence.
The initiative comes as employees from Babcock’s Rosyth facility continue to support the local community through a range of volunteering and sustainability initiatives. Over the summer, a team of volunteers supported Fife Coast & Countryside Trust by helping to look after planted trees in Lomond Hills Regional Park. More recently, colleagues partnered with Sight Scotland, supporting
activities that provide veterans with sight loss or visual impairments an opportunity to engage and connect through a range of inclusive experiences.
The technology-enabled bus, a moving hub of ideas, connections and collaboration, saw Babcock apprentices, graduates, time-served tradespeople and other colleagues step on board, sharing their voice as part of the company’s journey.
Ryan Stockham, HR Director of Babcock’s Marine Sector, said: “Our people here in Rosyth are at the heart of what makes Babcock special. This initiative is a fantastic way for us to connect with our colleagues, sharing the opportunities that exist within our business and showing how we’re making a difference locally.
“We hope to inspire people across Fife and beyond to explore the rewarding careers available at Babcock.”
The Babcock bus tour follows the recent unveiling of Babcock’s impact beyond the balance sheet within the UK, through its Delivering the Defence Dividend Report, which highlighted:
• The introduction of a free employee share scheme
• £510m total contribution to GDP in Scotland
• 5,400 Babcock employees in Scotland
• 9,500 jobs directly or through our supply chain in Scotland
