Arrol Gibb Innovation Centre (AGIC)

The Arrol Gibb Innovation Campus is transforming large-scale manufacturing capability through innovation and learning.

AGIC is a global centre of excellence which is transforming large-scale manufacturing through innovation and learning. It will become the first large-scale digitally enabled high-value manufacturing facility for the marine and energy transition sectors in the UK.

The facility is located in Rosyth, an established location for manufacturing and engineering expertise. In a unique collaboration, AGIC brings together Babcock International, the Royal Navy, two universities, the regional college and government agencies. It offers core capabilities in high-value and large-scale manufacturing, composites, robotics and digital manufacturing, which are all supported by cross-campus skills development and an innovation hub.

Investment and development opportunities

The Rosyth facility offers waterfront, road and rail access and unique large-scale industrial capabilities, with site development potential. This makes it an ideal base for both new and established businesses within or supporting the Forth Green Freeport target sectors.

Collaboration

With a diverse set of capabilities, partners and facilities located at AGIC, you'll benefit from the wide pool of expertise and experience across the campus, with shared skills development programmes and knowledge sharing.

Specialist industrial capabilities

New digital technologies

AGIC is currently supporting the construction of five Type 31 frigates for the UK Royal Navy, and it's deploying brand new digital technologies in the process.

Over time, digital twins of the ships, processes, and facilities will be developed, which will help to inform and monitor life-cycle activities from build right through to operations and maintenance.

Innovation Hub

Early-stage businesses will have access to AGIC’s Innovation Hub, which includes skills development support, business mentoring and flexible office space, and the use of cutting-edge manufacturing tools.

The partnership is developing unrivalled expertise in five core capabilities on one site: large-scale advanced manufacturing, composites, robotics, nuclear manufacturing and digital shipbuilding. Cross-campus skills development and an Innovation Incubator support these five core capabilities.
