Fife businesses connect with buyers and prime contractors from across the defence supply chain at DPRTE

InvestFife news

April 17, 2024

Seven Fife businesses secured valuable contacts and gained insights into the UK's defence procurement market at DPRTE 2024, the country's leading defence procurement and supply chain event.

Ductform HFE, McDonald Water Storage, Eurospray Limited, GoGreen Managed Services Ltd, Fyneside Developments, Cerebral Ape and Contract Solutions Ltd attended DPRTE 2024 with the support of Fife Council Economic Development's Trade Development Programme, partly funded by UK Shared Prosperity.

DPRTE is held annually at the Farnborough International Exhibition & Conference Centre, providing a unique opportunity for suppliers to engage with the defence sector buying community, welcoming over 2,000 attendees on the day.

As part of the DPRTE Learning Journey, the Fife businesses learned about the Ministry of Defence's (MOD) commitment to invest over £186 billion in equipment and support over the next decade. This knowledge, coupled with productive networking, resulted in twenty business enquiries for the Fife companies, highlighting their expertise and potential within the defence supply chain.

David Stewart from McDonald Water Storage praised the learning journey, saying, "By participating in the learning journey, we secured contacts within the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) supply chain. A very well-organised trip by Fife Council. Without Fife’s Trade Development Programme support, it is unlikely we would have gone to DPRTE and secured the contacts which could prove to be very lucrative for us”

Jim Fairnie from Eurospray Limited echoed similar sentiments, "I made contact on the day with the right people and supply chain links. Another well-organised trip by Fife Council.”

Drew Smith from Contract Solutions Scotland Limited said, "Fife Council nailed it when it comes to introducing a diverse range of potential customers and would encourage any other local business who might be interested to take part in the Trade Development Programme”

Fife-based business Quality Precision Electronics Ltd exhibited at DPRTE 2024, continuing their growth within the defence sector.

Fife Council Economic Development's Trade Development Programme offers a range of resources and support to help businesses expand into new markets. If you are a Fife based business, looking for support to access new markets then visit our Trade Development page.

The DPRTE Learning journey has received £3,732 from the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
