Commercial opportunities served up for Tayside and Fife producers at Tasting Tayside and Fife

InvestFife news

July 27, 2023
Sectors:

More than 30 of the finest food and drink producers across Angus, Dundee, Perthshire, and Fife attended Tasting Tayside and Fife on Tuesday 13th June. The event brought together influential buyers with producers from across the region, gathering at Arbikie distillery for an exciting produce showcase, helping to develop new commercial opportunities.

The event enabled chefs, retailers, distributors, and anyone who sold or served local produce to connect with regional food and drink producers to potentially secure business partnerships and increase the number of local products on local menus and shelves.

The event proved fruitful for producers and buyers alike. Dundee’s specialist zero waste grocer, The Little Green Larder, sourced three new suppliers during the event. Guest speakers were featured, including Balgove Larder’s Will Docker, and Ernie Millar, foodservice supplier at Mark Murphy.

The Tasting Tayside and Fife event was jointly run by Food from Fife, Great Perthshire, Eat and Drink Dundee, Appetite for Angus, and all Regional Food Groups, supported by Scotland Food & Drink.

Fiona Richmond, Head of Regional Food at Scotland Food & Drink, said: “This was an excellent event, presenting a taste of what the area has to offer to a keen audience.

“These types of events are an important way for the regional food and drink industry to interact with buyers, giving them wider access to the market. They help to open doors for suppliers, stimulating commercial opportunities and we look forward to seeing some new deals come to fruition.”

Martha Bryce, Coordinator at Food from Fife, said: “It was great to see the event filled with passionate producers and buyers with one thing in common: the love for Scottish food and drink.

“There were a wide variety of producers there to showcase the best of what the region has to offer, with great interest from buyers who are looking to introduce local produce to menus and shop shelves. We’re grateful to Scotland Food & Drink for its continuous support in highlighting the regional food and drink industry.”
