Briggs Marine, a leading provider of marine services with a heritage of over 50 years, has successfully completed the purchase of Scanco, a supplier of port services which currently operates out of both Calais and Cherbourg, France.
Scanco, a well-established company specialising in the RoRo port sector, currently manages port services, on the continent, for Irish Ferries for both the ‘Calais to Dover’ and ‘Cherbourg to Dublin’ routes. This acquisition marks a significant milestone for Briggs Marine, enhancing its European operations and aligning seamlessly with the services it already delivers to Irish Ferries at the Port of Dover.
Scanco’s skilled team provides comprehensive check-in management, ensuring efficient processing for both freight and tourist customers. In 2023 alone, the company successfully managed port operations for over 4,500 port calls, demonstrating its commitment to operational excellence. Beyond check-ins, Scanco enforces critical passenger information protocols, oversees import/export customs administration, and ensures adherence to the International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) code, prioritising the safety of passengers and cargo alike.
