PEEL TECH EXPANDS INTO GLENROTHES

Peel Tech, the revolutionary and innovative filtration system business, has relocated to Fife, with help from InvestFife’s Business Property Team. It has new, larger premises at Southfield Industrial Estate, Glenrothes, which will meet its growing needs.

Founded in 2014 by Malcolm Wood, Peel Tech is undergoing a period of growth here in UK, as well as further afield in the Middle East - from its Dubai office - as the use of the multi-award winning, filtration system is developed.

The patented eco-filtration system was invented to reduce waste from potato and food processing, and in addition to being sold throughout the UK and Middle East to fish and chip shops, Peel Tech’s units, manufactured by Fife Fabrications (also in Glenrothes), are being put to other uses! They are also being utilised to clear and collect algae for medicinal purposes, as well as in the green energy sector, whilst the units are also being trialed in the fish processing sector.

The business continues to innovate. It is creating a new, bespoke, industrial-sized system for a client in Dubai, which produces around 40,000 gallons of waste water a day.

Malcolm Wood, Founder of Peel Tech, commented:

“We didn’t ever envisage the success we’ve had, but that doesn’t mean we’re resting on our laurels. We’ve ideas of how we can develop what is a simple and affordable system for new markets, for example, the domestic sector and for the fish processing sector, whilst continuing to make a significant contribution to the environment.”

Peel Tech was assisted with its move to Southfield Industrial Estate by InvestFife’s Business Property Team, which is part of Fife Council’s Economic Development Service, and continues to work closely with Business Gateway Fife.

Malcolm added:

“We couldn’t have found our new premises without the help of InvestFife’s Business Property Team. They’ve been extremely helpful - all of them - in finding us a practical base for our expansion.”

InvestFife’s Business Property Team has leased a sizeable unit to the company over an initial three-year period, which Peel Tech is investing in. To date, half the building (approx. 4,000 sq.ft.) has been totally transformed with new electrics, alarm and heating systems, making it functional for its needs.

Councillor Altany Craik, Convener - Economy, Tourism, Strategic Planning & Transportation Committee, commented:

“We’re committed to improving Fife’s economy, and it is always encouraging to welcome businesses to Fife, but in Peel Tech’s case, we welcome the business back, as it seeks to expand its operations in the region.

“The innovativeness of the Peel Tech system and the success it has had to date, is inspiring. We wish Peel Tech every success in its diversification and growth.”
