THE LAUNCH OF MISSION TO MARS

THE LAUNCH OF MISSION TO MARS

As the world watched NASA’s Mars 2020 Perseverance land on Mars earlier this year, a new business was being launched, offering an online interactive experience for adults to explore the red planet.

The Mission to Mars experience created and launched by Cerebral Ape, allows participants to control a robotic rover over a custom-built mars landscape. Currently, available for adults to experience, teams can control the rover to perform various tasks on the realistic Martian landscape, helped by onboard cameras, a robotic grabbing claw, lasers as well as other instruments needed to complete the mission.

This is the brainchild of Wormit-based Stuart Rogers, who set it up having been made redundant during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Stuart has been engaging with Business Gateway Fife, seeking advice, and accessing resources to support the start-up of his business. In addition, he is also undertaking a course in Digital Marketing.

Stuart Rogers told fbm Update:

“Having been made redundant, I decided to establish my own business, and share my love of science in an interactive way. The feedback I’ve had has been phenomenal and the timing, couldn’t be better, as many are intrigued about life on Mars because of NASA’s current exploration.

“To support my start-up, I have engaged with Shona Morrison, a Business Adviser at Business Gateway Fife, and she’s given me so much useful information and access to a host of resources. I am currently revising my business plan, based on an initial conversation with Shona.”

Stuart is focused on evolving his offering. As he grows and returns a profit, he will diversify to create a range of experiences including a deep-sea exploration, some of which will be aimed at children.
