Accessing New Markets

Fife Council Economic Development has released a revised guide for businesses seeking to access new markets. The four-page booklet – Your Guide to Accessing New Markets - points businesses in the direction of help from a range of business support services, to assist businesses into new geographical areas, or to simply help those already exporting to do so more efficiently.

There is a range of support on offer from 1-2-1 Expert Help, delivered by Business Gateway Fife, to support with paperwork and certification from Fife Chamber of Commerce and a range of seminars and training from Scottish Development International. Fife Council’s Trade Development Programme can also support raising brands and business profiles internationally through learning journeys, market visits, events and trade shows.

GlenrothesSemefab has benefited from help on accessing new markets. Melanie Smith from Semefab, said:

“As a result of recently attending an online Trade Training event, we were able to access 1-2-1 Expert Help via Business Gateway Fife to advise and inform on customs procedures and processes, with a focus on Inward Processing Relief (IPR) and Outward Processing Relief (OPR). This will enable us to be better prepared when engaging with existing markets and will give us confidence in accessing new markets in the future.”

eCom Scotland in Dunfermline also sought export support. Its Managing Director, Wendy Edie, commented:

eCom Scotland has seen huge benefits already in raising awareness of our innovative products and services in these new markets opened up by Scottish Development International. In fact, we have achieved more international business during 2020 than in previous years.”
