Contract Opportunities for Fife SMEs on Construction Projects

InvestFife news

October 27, 2021

As part of Fife Business Week 2021, a virtual ‘Meet the Buyer’ event is being held to showcase the contract opportunities on the two major construction projects being undertaken in Fife.

Information on the contracts from BAM and Balfour Beatty for the £200M Dunfermline Learning Campus and from Network Rail, BAM Nuttall, and their suppliers for the £70M Levenmouth Rail Link will be provided during the event.

Businesses of all sizes will be able to talk to these organisations to discuss the projects and the requirements needed to be eligible to bid for them. Small to Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs) can also learn how to receive free guidance on how to prepare tenders for the future work packages through our Supplier Development Programme – an Economic Development led programme in Fife.

To attend this virtual event on the 4 November please book your place for the event via the Supplier Development Programme website:

Martin Cooper, Construction Director, BAM Construction, is keen for local SMEs to attend the virtual event, saying: “We want to engage and support the local business community as much as possible. At BAM, over 80% of our supply chain are Small to Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs) and we take our commitment to working with local SMEs and Third Sector Organisations very seriously. We look forward to speaking to local businesses at the event.”

Pamela Stevenson, Service Manager Economic Development Fife Council, confirmed Fife Council’s ongoing commitment to assist local businesses bid for contracts: “Fife Council, through our Supplier Development Programme, supports local SMEs get the best opportunity to bid for the contracts that will become available through the construction of the Dunfermline Learning Campus and Levenmouth Railway Link.”

Gillian Cameron, Programme Manager for the Supplier Development Programme (a council led programme), added: “Connecting Fife Council, hub East Central Scotland and the key contractors who will be delivering the contracts in the region at our Meet the Buyer event offers a unique opportunity for businesses to understand what opportunities there are locally for their businesses. This free event uses the latest online technology to offer every business, no matter what size, the opportunity to connect directly with those buyers, introduce their products and services, and discover future contract opportunities.

“Whether a business is new to working with the public sector and tendering, or well-seasoned in bidding, this ‘must attend’ event offers the opportunity to find routes to grow your company. All suppliers are welcome. Please book your free place at this event in advance.”

Businesses can join the discussions by following @InvestFife on social media and by using the #FBW2021, #PowerOfSDP, #FifeMeansBusiness and #InvestFife hashtags.
