Over the years, Glenrothes business, Itek, has had six apprentices, all of whom have completed their training and remained at Itek after completion.
Andrew Bousie of Itek Systems Management, said:
“It’s becoming more difficult to find the right candidates with the attitudes and skills we need, so by recruiting apprentices, we can train them with the right skills sets, which can be nurtured and developed to fit our needs.”
The latest recruits have been placed between Itek Systems Management and PageNorth Digital, completing either an IT or digital marketing apprenticeship, assessed by SQA.
Leo Duncan is one of Itek’s apprentices. He’s learning the skills of the first line support with assistance from senior engineers. Leo told fbm Update:
“I chose to take this apprenticeship because it was the exact experience I wanted and needed for my future. I want to take my time at Itek to learn and practice so I can secure a good career.”
Noah Boxall, an apprentice at PageNorth, commented:
“My apprenticeship has given me the ability to gain knowledge and experience in a real workplace setting and is preparing me for my future career in digital marketing.”
